Diablo 4 season 4, Loot Reborn, has brought some of the biggest changes to the game yet. Changes to itemization, crafting, and world events have all fundamentally changed the class rankings. Although all classes in Loot Reborn have generally gotten stronger, some classes still certainly outrank others. All classes in Diablo 4 season four are viable and able to level to 50 and complete endgame content without much of a challenge.
Class selection is still the single most important decision players will make and impacts every way in which they interact with the game. The meta for Loot Reborn is still being figured out by players and is far from set in stone, but PTR information has given some indication as to how the rankings may end up. Rankings in this list are based on several major factors: difficulty in leveling, ability to farm end-game content, boss fight viability, and build diversity.

Diablo 4’s fourth season, Season of Loot Reborn, doesn’t just add new season content but gives the entire game a massive overhaul in many areas.
5 Sorcerer
This glass cannon may struggle in the late game.

Intelligence | Willpower | Strength | Dexterity |

The Sorcerer is by no means a bad class in Diablo 4. In fact for this list, the Sorcerer is actually the best class to rush to level 50 as fast as possible. Specialized builds such as Chain Lightning and Fire Sorcerer provide excellent AoE damage that can clear out dungeons and encounters at incredible speeds.
The Sorcerer is also by far the best-ranged option for players in Diablo 4 and has firmly remained so since the game’s release. Between the various elemental flavorings of magic, Fire, Ice, and Lightning damage all provide exceptionally useful build paths that are fairly straightforward for new players.
To prevent the Sorcerer from getting overwhelmed, small summons, such as Hydras, are always useful for taking aggro and reducing hordes.
The problem with the Sorcerer is the class’s endgame viability. Survivability and single-target damage are two massive factors whenever it comes to endgame activities, specifically when taking on bosses and Uber bosses. Certain builds, such as Ball Lightning, can keep up with end-game content, but there are very few Sorcerer builds that veer away from AoE damage.
Given the Sorcerer’s slimmer health bar, this class also has little room for error in harder boss fights. With friends, the Sorcerer is an excellent addition to any group. Alone, Sorcerer players can expect to struggle with end-game content.
4 Rogue
Nerfs hurt.

The Twisting Blades build was undoubtedly one of the strongest builds that Diablo 4 has ever seen. Now that this specific build has been nerfed, there is no build that is even comparable to the Rogue’s past strength. So far in season four, the class has turned to its ranged options, prioritizing Barrage, Penetrating Shot, and similar options.
This is good enough to keep the Rogue from the bottom of the list as it provides excellent single-target damage and easy leveling from 1 to 50. Melee builds are still certainly a viable options for this otherwise verstaile class, but you can expect to do far less damage than previous season, all while being comparably weaker health-wise whenever compared to the Barbarian and Druid.
Similar to the Sorcerer, Rogue players in Diablo 4 will start to feel the limitations of their class as they hit endgame content. Single-target damage for this class is decent, but nowhere near as powerful as the higher-ranking classes. The lack of any powerful AoE abilities also makes farming endgame content, such as Helltides, much more difficult for Rogue players.
If Rogues can get any AoE buffs in any future updates, then this will be a much more rounded class.
3 Barbarian
The game-breaking build may be gone, but the class is still among the best.

Intelligence | Willpower | Strength | Dexterity |

Barbarian players have enjoyed plenty of time at the top for the past several seasons, but the sheer number of nerfs this class received has knocked them from the top of the list. However, the class is still incredibly easy to play and the top pick for anyone just starting up Diablo 4.
The Barbarian’s large well of health, single-target damage, and AoE options are all powerful tools that will allow you to hack-and-slash through Diablo 4’s main story and most additional gameplay options. The Hammer of the Ancients and Charge builds that dominated season three have firmly been laid to rest.
The Tempering Affix turns all Bash damage into AoE. Whenever paired with the right weapon, you can clear out most endgame content with ease.
In place of the Hammer of the Ancients build, players have already emerged with several new, viable options. Double Swing Dust Devil is a powerful build that can wipe out endgame content with a flurry of tornadoes that deal constant damage. Whenever paired with the Tempering Affix, Bash builds can create equally devastating AoE damage.
These builds are only a shadow of the class’s previous glory, with recent nerfs balancing the potentially over-tuned melee class for season four. Again, the Barbarian is far from a bad class, but Blizzard has sought to build up other, often looked-over classes.
2 Druid
Werewolf and Werebear builds rejoice.
Starting Stats | |||
---|---|---|---|
Intelligence | Willpower | Strength | Dexterity |
8 | 10 | 7 | 7 |
Druids are admittedly a difficult class to get started with. The class is a notoriously slow leveling, but provides plenty of options for Druid builds during this long leveling process. Druids also have issues speed farming story and endgame content before level 100, which can easily turn players away from this class.
If you manage to make it to the endgame with a Druid, then you’ve got one of the best Diablo classes ever. Although Druids have both melee and caster options, the shapeshifting components of the build are better than ever and easily the preferable build option currently.
The Tornado Werewolf Druids are only comparable to Hammer of the Ancients Barbarians from season three. This incredible build has screen-clearing damage capacity that has easily stood as one of the single best builds in Diablo 4 for quite a while. Added to this is Druid’s generally excellent survivability, with plenty of shielding, healing, and other defensive options at their disposal. Whenever it comes to soloing Uber bosses or clearing Nightmare dungeons, few classes do it better than Druids.
1 Necromancer
Diablo 4 quickly becomes an RTS with this class's powerful summons.
Starting Stats | |||
---|---|---|---|
Intelligence | Willpower | Strength | Dexterity |
10 | 8 | 7 | 7 |
It’s hard to believe there was a time when the Necromancer was squarely the worst class in Diablo 4. The moment Blizzard decided to buff the Necromancer’s army of minions, the class quickly rose in priority. In season four, the added stun minions deal alongside their increased base damage means that minions will be doing most of the work for this caster class.
Aside from summons, Blood and Corpse Explosion builds are also better than ever and can clear out early and endgame content. If you do elect to test out the skeletal army summon build, then you will quickly turn Diablo 4 from an action-adventure game into an RTS, controlling any battlefield.
Mobility for the Necromancer class is still relatively low. Although this is offset by the large number of summons at your disposal, don't expect to dash around the battlefield.
The Necromancer still has its sore spots. The class isn’t the best for leveling and Bone Necromancers are easily among the weakest individual builds in the game. The core feature of the class, its summons, are stronger than ever with virtually no match in sight. If you haven’t ever played a Necromancer in Diablo 4, or avoided it due to the weak early stigma of the class, now is the time to test it out.
